Nice to meet you...
I’m Angela De Angelis—though most people know me as Ange 🩶
Art has always been my passion. From the moment I picked up a crayon, I’ve been captivated by how lines and colours can speak when words can’t.
Growing up in a home always filled with family and friends, I found peace in sketching while the world buzzed around me. It was comforting to have those I loved nearby while I slipped into my own world — letting whatever was inside flow through my fingers onto the paper.
But like many, life got busy—school, work, and social obligations began crowding out my time for art. Though creating always felt natural, I started treating it as a luxury—something to do only when time allowed.
Eventually, I reached a crossroads and had to ask myself, “What do I really want?” And when I truly listened, the answer was clear: art. It kept finding its way back to me. I realized it wasn’t just something I did—it was who I am.
That moment was both terrifying and liberating. Terrifying because I knew I was stepping onto a less-traveled path (again). But liberating because it was my path—just a new curve in direction.
I truly believe art is for everyone. And when I say “art,” I mean anything that sparks your creativity, expression, or joy. If you feel called to create—just do it. Yes, there are techniques to learn, but you don’t need to wait until you feel “ready.” If you wait until you’ve mastered it, you might never begin (trust me, I’ve had to give myself that pep talk!).
The most important step is simply to start. Follow what calls you, create from the heart, and let everything else fall into place. Don’t worry about perfection or critique—trust that growth will come.
I’ve learned this through my own journey, and I often remind myself of Picasso’s words: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
My style continues to evolve as I do, but right now I’m inspired by what’s closest to my heart—family and culture, travel, spirituality, and (of course) horses! 🐎 (IYKYK)
I invite you to walk this journey with me. While my art may change and grow, one thing remains constant: the passion and purpose that guide me.
Lastly, a special shoutout to my soul sister and fellow artist, Elen Awad, who’s been by my side through this transformative journey. After one heart-to-heart conversation about what we truly wanted (i.e., doing our own art), we were booked for an exhibit within 24 hours! I hope this inspires you to see what’s possible when you get clear with your heart.
Here’s a photo of me at that exhibit 🩶
With love,
Angela (Ange)
